Abstract: Arboviruses replicate in both vertebrates and arthropods, which results in the induction of immune responses. Immunity can end up being a double edged sword and unbalances can result in disease, but it can also be targeted for interventions provided targets are known and amenable for intervention. I will discuss findings with tick-borne Dabie bandavirus to show how disease in vertebrates can be investigated and targeted; and also show potential opportunities for targets in mosquito immunity that may be suitable for manipulation and reduce the burden of arbovirus transmission.
