Surveillance of nosocomial influenza transmission at the Hospices Civils of Lyon : NOSO-GRIPPE

The description of nosocomial risk is a key element in order to identify the factors facilitating hospital clusters. These factors have a major impact on the management and organization of care. The analysis of nosocomial influenza surveillance, initiated in 2004 at the GHC (Central Hospital) is useful to identify the differences and similarities of infections linked to different influenza viruses.

• Main objective: To describe and document the cases of nosocomial influenza, their clinical spectrum and their determinant occurring at the Hospices Civils de Lyon.

• Secondary objective(s):

Describe and document the cases of community influenza likely to be a source of nosocomial influenza, their clinical spectrum and their determinant occurring at the Hospices Civils de Lyon.

Describe and document the cases of community influenza likely to be a source of nosocomial influenza, their clinical spectrum and their determinant occurring at the Hospices Civils of Lyon.

Describe influenza-like illness (ILI) populations by inpatient ward

To possibly question the 72-hour period in the definition of nosocomial influenza

Expected benefits: Gain a better understanding of the chains of transmission of nosocomial influenza; raise awareness among professionals about the spread of the influenza virus in hospitals; raise awareness of their role in preventing the spread of the virus in hospitals and their immediate environment; complement existing recommendations
