CIRIan human Organotypic Liver Cultures (CIRI-hOLiC)

Collaboration between the groups NITROVIRE, HEPVIR and VIRIMI

The study of Hepatotropic Flaviviridae faces the cruel lack of relevant tools bridging in vitro to and in-vivo analyses, particularly for viruses that are restricted to human and non-human primates. Thanks to our expertise in organotypic cultures, metabolism, and liver cell cultures, we aim to develop the first CIRIan human organotypic liver culture (hOLiC) model to study infections by Yellow Fever Virus (YFV) and other Flaviviridae in this organ.  This model will enable assessment of antiviral activity of candidates coming from our internal screenings. The development of hOLiC will provide a valuable tool for the community to analyze ex-vivo the mechanisms of infection in primary tissues and the immune response of resident cells.
