The extreme pathogenicity of Ebolavirus is linked to its ability to control the interferon response through a double-stranded RNA binding domain present in VP35. However, the dsRNA molecules that could activate the interferon response in Ebolavirus infected cells have not been described and the sensors recognizing these dsRNA molecules have not been clearly identified. The goal of this project is to identify the dsRNA molecules and sensors involved in the activation of the interferon response in Ebolavirus infected cells in order to acquire new fundamental knowledge on Ebolavirus biology and to identify therapeutic approaches.
