Abstract: In severe cutaneous adverse drug reactions, we still have some practical and fundamental questions. In clinics, it is difficult to diagnose early stage of Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). Several biomarkers have been reported for diagnosis and severity prediction of SJS/TEN, such as galectin-7 and RIP-3. Now image diagnosis using artificial intelligence is becoming practical. We developed a diagnostic imaging tool for SJS/TEN using deep learning. As basic research, we have revealed unique mechanism of keratinocyte death in SJS/TEN. Understanding this mechanism should lead to develop effective therapeutic reagents.
