Pr. Amy CHUNG, Laboratory Head Dpt of Microbiology and Immunology Peter Doherty Institute Melbourne - AUSTRALIA, "Characterizing antibodies against infectious diseases"
Abstract: In addition to neutralization, antibodies can mediate an array of functions by instructing the innate immune system on how to attack pathogens. Dr Chung’s work has helped to identify key humoral signatures associated with protection from HIV, control of Tuberculosis and more recently has examined a range of other infectious diseases including Malaria, Influenza and SARS-CoV-2. Identifying antibody responses that contribute to protection or pathology and understanding the mechanisms by which these antibodies work, can assist in the development of improved monoclonal antibody therapeutics and antibody-based vaccines.
