POST-DOCTORAL POSITION IN IMMUNOLOGY

Location: Centre de Recherche en Infectiologie (CIRI, INSERM U1111, CNRS UMR 5308, ENSLyon, UCBL1), Lyon, France
Starting Date: Can be flexible depending on candidate’s availability. December 31st 2024 at the latest.
Contract Duration: 2 years, Université Claude Bernard, Lyon 1

Research team: ‘NLRP3 Inflammasome and Immune Response to Sepsis’ – Dr Bénédicte PY NLRP3 Team CIRI

We develop a translational research program focused on the role of NLRP3 inflammasome in the immune response to sepsis defined as a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. We investigate whether NLRP3 inflammasome activation is central to the pathophysiology of sepsis with a dual role (i) through its hyper-activation during the initial phase of the disease
leading to cytokine storm and organ failure and (ii) through its down-regulation/inhibition during sepsis-induced immunosuppression leading to immune dysfunctions, endotoxin tolerance and increased risk of secondary infections.

We are looking for a PhD-level scientist with training in immunology, cellular biology and animal models of infection.
This position is opened in the Centre de Recherche en Infectiologie (CIRI, INSERM U1111, CNRS UMR 5308, ENS Lyon, UCBL1), in Dr Bénédicte Py’s team ‘NLRP3 Inflammasome and Immune Response to Sepsis’. The CIRI is a highly dynamic environment fostering interactions between immunologists, bacteriologists, virologists and clinicians and providing all the necessary platforms and facilities for the project.

Excellent language skills in English (both oral and written)
First-rate cell biology knowledge and skills with a strong background in Immunology
