Pr. Soren Riis PALUDAN (DMSc, PhD Dpt of Biomedicine – Aarhus University; Aarhus – Denmark) “Activation of signaling by the cGAS-STING pathway in innate immunity”
Abstract: The innate immune system senses foreign and mislocalized molecules to activate antimicrobial and inflammatory reactions. The cGAS-STING pathway senses cytosolic DNA to activate potent antiviral responses. However, it is emerging that this pathway also induces signaling NF-kB and programmed cell death. However, the mechanisms remain largely unknown. In this talk I will present recent data from the laboratory on the molecular mechanism through which the innate immune system activates the NFkB pathway and cell death in response to cytosolic DNA originating from viral or host DNA
